Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference: a catalyst for renewable energy
VIENNA, – UNIDO’s Director General Kandeh K. Yumkella is expected to attend the Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference (DIREC 2010), from 27 to 29 October 2010 in New Delhi.
The theme of the conference will be “Upscaling and Mainstreaming Renewables for Energy Security, Climate Change and Economic Development”. It will bring together some 9000 participants from 50 countries.
DIREC 2010 is the fourth in the series of global ministerial level conferences on Renewable Energy, which follows from the initiative taken at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, acknowledging the significance of renewable energy for sustainable development.
The conference is an international platform for governments, the private sector and civil society to jointly address the goal of advancing renewable energy. It will build upon the success and outcomes of the previous events held in Washington in 2008, Beijing in 2005 and Bonn in 2004.
